Every video game has some interesting facts about it that you have probably never heard of. Most video games have easter eggs, hidden gems inside a game that reference something else, either from the real world, or from another game.
The Sims, as a series, is full of wonderful secrets and trivia that many players miss since they are too busy making their house look as beautiful as it can be. Here are some interesting facts about the Sims, as well as trivia that you should know of.
Simlish – A Language Which is Not COMPLETE Gibberish
Simlish can be heard in the game, when the Sims complain or talk to one another. Simlish sounds like a blend of sims and english and that’s what it is, at least when we talk about the name. The language itself is not completely gibberish. It was inspired by real languages.
Simlish borrows from various languages, from different families as well. Some of the languages on the list are Finnish, Tagalog, English, Latin, Cebuano, French, Fijian and Ukrainian. Yes, the language is a blend of all of these ones, so if you hear something familiar, there is a good reason for it. While it is not on the Tolkien level of language creation, it is close enough that it counts as a language of its own.
It Was Supposed to be An Architecture Simulator
Initially, the first Sims game was supposed to be an architecture simulator only, where players would build anything from houses to buildings. The game was changed later in the process of development and the Sims were added, people who were really close to how actual people would behave.
Another fact within a fact is that the first every object to be introduced to the game, other than the bare materials, was the toilet. The toilet was the benchmark for the games, for the interaction of the sims with their environment.
Original Animals Were Voiced by People
The Sims franchise is everything but normal. The animals in the Sims Unleashed in the first game and the Pets expansion for the second game were completely voiced by humans. If you ever thought that your cat or dog sounded a bit off, now you know the reason why.
For the third game, Maxis adapted and recorded the animals AND humans, then blended the sounds to make a realistic animal recording, but also still convey the emotions a human would be able to convey. This made the animals more anthropomorphic, adding another layer to their cuteness.
The Sims franchise is full of trivia. You could go on for days and still be left with a few interesting facts you didn’t know about the game. These are some to keep you interested in the game.
