The internet became a widespread commodity in the 2000s and in the late parts of the decade, almost everybody had a good enough connection for online gaming. When the 2010s came, esports titles were plentiful, from CS: GO in the shooter genre, to League of Legends and then DotA 2 in 2013.
Esports revolutionized gaming in a way that wasn’t expected. From something which was a hobby and a recreational activity, young athletes could now make a living from playing video games, or rather, competing at the highest level. When the later part of the 2010s came, video games were already so good-looking that you could take a single game and play it simply for the graphics.
